How to open VS Code with two GitHub accounts at once
VS Code keeps your GitHub sign-in and extensions per Windows user. In a Mezi instance, it opens as if for the first time, with its own sign-in and extensions.
Step by step
- Download and install Mezi, then choose the folder where instances will live.
- In Mezi, click "Add app" and pick Visual Studio Code from the installed apps list.
- Click "New instance" and give it a name, like "Work" or "Personal".
- Open the instance and sign in with the other GitHub account. Install only the extensions you use in that context.
The free plan opens 1 instance at a time, alongside your normal app. With Pro, you can open as many as you want at once.

Your project folders stay available in the instance: choose which Windows folders are shared with it.
Frequently asked question
Are my projects duplicated?
No. The program is the same and your projects stay in their usual folders. Only VS Code’s data, like sign-in, extensions and settings, is kept separate.
